MEET THE LEADERSHIP 

Bishop Rick Garrett
Lead pastor

Rick Garrett Sr. has been married to his wife, Debra, for 40 years. He’s a proud dad of six, grandfather of 17, great-grandfather of five, and a trusted spiritual mentor to many.

Originally from Texas and raised in Florence, AZ, Rick grew up in a single-parent home, where the strength of his mother and grandmother helped shape his character. Their influence, along with key mentors, guided him through challenges and molded him into the leader he is today.

For nearly four decades, Rick and Debra have worked side by side building Christian daycare centers, private schools, and several business ventures. Rick has served in ministry for more than 30 years—including as Chaplain at EastLake Mortuary—and is ordained under Dr. Bill & Veronica Winston.

As Senior Pastor of The Message Church, Rick is committed to helping people grow spiritually and personally. 

Pastor Debra Garrett
Executive Pastor

Debra Garrett is a devoted wife of 40 years to Bishop Rick Garrett Sr., and a proud mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Born in Coolidge, Arizona, she overcame the loss of her mother at a young age and has dedicated her life to uplifting and empowering others.

A passionate entrepreneur, Debra founded and ran three childcare centers and a Christian K–11 school for 20 years. Today, she consults for childcare centers and writes faith-based books and confessions that inspire parents and children.

With over 30 years in ministry, Debra pastors alongside her husband at The Message Church in Phoenix and co-leads the One Stop Life Center, which supports people spiritually, physically, and emotionally. Her 4F’s 4 Success program—focused on Fitness, Fashion, Finance, and Faith—helps women build confidence and financial independence.

Debra also leads transformational programs for women, teens, and children, and through her company, Total Transformation & Empowerment, LLC, she coaches entrepreneurial women in launching successful businesses. Holding a Bachelor’s in Biblical Studies, she continues to grow and learn as she helps others overcome challenges, strengthen their faith, and pursue their purpose.
